Halloween is coming

I can not believe how fast Halloween is coming up. We had our Halloween party at Kindermusik last night and all the kids looked so cute!

This week has been rainy out so we decided to have an indoor camping trip for 2 days :)

Today Wy has been a in a big craft kick so we did a couple Halloween crafts this morning. He is doing great at using glue :)

A bit behind

I have some pictures of activities the last few days. We have been busy still and it is harder than I thought to keep up with activities with so many kids around sometimes.

Wyatt's first time playing with play dough all by himself

 He thought it was great!!

 He loves his magnet pages

P is for pumpkin this week :) all from confessions of a home schooler

crazy week

This has been a crazy week so we have not been doing too much. We should start on our halloween projects this week and we start on the letter P for the next 2 weeks with Wyatt. I have to take pictures of our halloween decorations that we put up last week (I might try to do that today).

Thanksgiving crafts

Today Alex, Mike and I made the name cards for turkey dinner. Alex wanted to make them for his mom's house too so we made 22 of these! We had a lot of fun and it was nice to have Mike join us. Alex loves using the glue gun!

Mike was so impressed that I got him to cut out so much stuff but he had fun with us :)

Alex had so much fun with the glue gun!

The ones Alex made for his mom's dinner

These are the ones for our dinner. We put Werther's Original soft carmel candies in them all.

Wyatt wanted to do some too but he likes to try to eat the glue so we let him stick things together with yogurt :) He loved it!!

Decorating for Fall

I let the kids decorate the sunroom last week for Fall. Here are the leaves they stuck to the walls.

I got the leaves from Walmart for $1.27 a pack :) I let them use sticky tac (that's what I call it anyway) to stick them to the walls.

Halloween costume

WOW I actually sewed a halloween costume by myself!! I wish I would've taken pictures along the way but I have pictures of the final product :) I can't believe that last week this was just material at the fabric store. He is not a fan of the hood and hat but loves the "straw" on the sleeves.

some of Wy's work :)

I have been taking pictures of Wy's art projects and colourings. Here are some of his recent ones.

an amazing poem

This was on the "peaceful parenting" blog today and I loved it!

I Took His Hand and Followed

My dishes went unwashed today,
I didn’t make the bed,
I took his hand and followed
Where his eager footsteps led.

Oh yes, we went adventuring,
My little son and I,
Exploring all the great outdoors
Beneath the summer sky.

We waded in a crystal stream,
We wandered through a wood.
My kitchen wasn’t swept today,
But life was sweet and good.

We found a cool sun-dappled glade
And now my small son knows
How Mother Bunny hides her nest
Where fern and larkspur grow.

We watched a robin feed her young,
We climbed a sunlit hill,
Saw cloud-sheep scamper through the sky;
We plucked a daffodil.

That my house was neglected,
That I didn’t sweep the stair,
In twenty years no one on earth
Will know or even care.

But that I’ve helped a little boy
To noble manhood grow,
In twenty years the whole wide world
May look and see and know.

Ms. Peifer

I think this is so true about our children! I sometimes take an hour to go to the store because Wy leads the way more times than not. I love watching him explore and learn new things. Everything is an adventure to him!!!

Thanksgiving lap book

Thanksgiving is this weekend so last weekend I had some friends come over and we made some fun Thanksgiving lap books. These ideas came from all over and I just pieced different ideas together to make this lap book. We had fun making it and the kids were happy to take them home. Wy is still too young to really get into it so I made his and we will use it next year for sure!

On the cover I have a happy thanksgiving picture. Inside I have...
- a Thanksgiving matching game - I printed out double of 6 theme pictures so the kids can match them. I also wrote the letters T H A N K S G I V I N G on the back of the cards so older children can try to spell out Thanksgiving.
- I did a Thanksgiving words flip chart - The kids got to glue the pictures in it that match the word written on the bottom of each flip page.
- there is a sequence game - it is 6 pictures to a pumpkin pie, so step one is a pumpkin seed, then a sprout and so on until you get to the pumpkin pie.
- I made a colouring book and they can colour the pictures inside. I got this online, printed it out and stapled it together. I have the book attached with brads so I can take it out for colouring.
- on the right I have a pumpkin muffin recipe. The idea that day was to make the muffins so the kids could take them home with them but we ran out of time.

I will try to get some pictures of the actual cards inside the pockets and I have to add the links to the blogs/sites where I printed of my pages.

Calendar

This is the calendar we use every morning. Wy is too young for it but I still repeat the dates to him and count the days. He likes the weather wheel the best and he uses his signs for rain, sun and wind. It is so cute to watch him go check out the patio door to see what the weather is :)

Felt board

In September I made the kids a felt board and they love it!! I thought I would put some pictures up on here for everyone to see.

I used a poster frame from Walmart and I bought felt from a fabric store. I spray glued the sheet of felt to the cardboard in the frame and then cut out some shapes. It was super easy and cheap. The one I made is 16X20.

There is way too many screws holding this frame to the wall but Wy kept getting his little fingers behind it and pulling it off the wall. He can't now .. lol

We have made many more shapes, animals and letters since I took this picture. I use coloring page templates off the internet, print them off and cut out the shape on felt.
